Somatic practices (e.g., Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, Body-Mind Centering) are educational and therapeutic tools useful for prevention and rehabilitation, promoting body awareness, better posture, mobility, mental health, and stress reduction.
In the last twenty years, public healthcare has focused on the social and environmental determinants of health, but their impact also depends on political and institutional dynamics. In this context, emerging professions, although still in the minority, can contribute to a more inclusive, sustainable health model that better meets people’s needs.
The political debate is considering directions towards networks of collaboration between professionals and institutions to strengthen the National Health Service. In Italy, Confcommercio Professioni – a unified national representation system for professionals operating in services, advanced tertiary sectors, and emerging new professions – has promoted a discussion in the Chamber of Deputies on the role of independent professions in the health ecosystem. Over the course of this year, AIIMF has joined the Italian associative network and, starting from the Feldenkrais4Life project, is initiating collaborations with other professional realities in health and wellness to develop shared initiatives.
At the European level, the 18th EPH Conference in Helsinki, just concluded, reiterated, together with EuroHealthNet, the importance of governance and policy as key factors for innovative and inclusive health models.
The path is set. And Feldenkrais4Life fits into this journey, promoting in Italy and partner countries the recognition of Feldenkrais skills within a more sustainable and inclusive health and wellness system.
