The Feldenkrais4life Project Team is delighted to invite you to the second Pan-European meeting on 30 September, 12:30 – 14:00 (CET) about bridging disciplines to enhance care in chronic pain and fibromyalgia. The event will be held in English with the option to select automatic translation via subtitles in your language.
The event will share the outcome of a pilot project involving Feldenkrais practitioners, physicians, and fibromyalgia patients in rehabilitation of the Fibromyalgia patients and will give you the possibility to have a personal experience of the Feldenkrais Method as a valuable approach to increase patients’ self-efficacy through body awareness education.
Fibromyalgia is a multifactorial syndrome that requires a comprehensive approach to the individual’s health. Body awareness education, as a means of engaging with the nervous system, plays a key role not only in reshaping the perception of pain but also in helping individuals reclaim their sense of self — as a person, rather than merely a patient.
Overall, the method is especially potent in bolstering self-efficacy—it empowers people to recognize that they can take active steps toward positive change and may serve as a vital catalyst for change. It enhances perception and movement awareness—individually through gentle, nonverbal, and tactile guidance (Functional Integration), and in group settings via carefully guided movement exploration (Awareness Through Movement). Research indicates that Feldenkrais has meaningful positive effects in chronic and psychosomatic pain: for example, a pilot study among fibromyalgia patients showed significant improvements in distress and pain catastrophizing (Feldenkrais awareness though movement intervention for fibromyalgia syndrome: A proof-of-concept study – PubMed), and qualitative work in chronic back pain documented enhanced self-efficacy through somatic education (Feldenkrais method empowers adults with chronic back pain – PubMed).”
Are you curious? Can you set aside one hour and a half of your life to encounter a different way of approaching the work with your patients? Sign up!
Do you know physicians and professionals or associations working in health and wellbeing sectors with patients with Fibromyalgia or Chronic pain?
Share with them the invitation to our event!
Join us in shaping the next chapter of Feldenkrais in healthcare. Together, across disciplines and borders, we can explore how this movement-based method can reside at the heart of integrative care.
A confirmation email with the participation link and detailed agenda will be provided upon signing up.
